Cataract/Anterior Segment, Glaucoma, Premium IOLs, Surgical Management
In this interview from AAO 2021, Dr. John Berdahl discusses the use of premium and toric IOLs in glaucoma patients. Conventionally, premium IOLs have been contraindicated in patients with glaucoma. Presbyopia-correcting lenses in particular can potentially impact contrast sensitivity in those with severe glaucoma and prior filtration surgery. But for many patients, Dr. Berdahl contends, correction of astigmatism with a toric lens can be safely considered, and combining with a MIGS procedure is frequently an ideal approach.
