    Glaucoma, Surgical Management

In this interview from AAO 2018, Dr. Davinder Grover discusses strategies for minimizing the risk of blood reflux and hyphema with angle surgery. During the preoperative period, he advises counseling patient on possible complications, discontinuing blood thinners if at all possible and advocating for sleeping positions that minimize blood reflux. During surgery, he places patients in the reverse Trendelenburg position, uses viscoelastic to keep the eye pressurized and uses the episcleral venous fluid wave to gauge the propensity for blood reflux. During the postoperative period, he advises patients to keep their head above their heart at all times, and brings high-risk patients back to wash out any blood.
