Glaucoma, Surgical Management
In this interview from AAO 2019, Dr. Davinder Grover describes methods to manage tube-related hypotony. He explains that surgeons still depend on tube shuts, despite the rise in popularity of nonvalved implants. In addition to tying off the tube, he sometimes uses the ripcord technique that enables better control when the hypotony occurs. Dr. Grover often utilizes Prolene suture with blunt tips to restrict tube flow. Intraoperative decisions, he notes, are key to managing a patient’s hypotony in a noninvasive way.
