In this interview from AAO 2017, Dr. David Tse discusses tools for treating adenoid cystic carcinoma of the lacrimal gland, starting with how apoptotic markers can be used to gauge a tumor's responds to intra-arterial chemotherapy. Dr. Tse also explains adenoid cystic carcinomas can develop resistance to chemotherapy. He describes recent in vivo studies that have identified an upregulation of FGFR receptors, which is believed to be a key pathway to tumor’s escape mechanism. Future studies aimed at exploiting this uptick in activity could yield new therapies for treating adenoid cystic carcinoma.
