Dr. Ken Wright performs a left medial rectus recession for the correction of esotropia in a 40-year-old patient. Dr. Wright demonstrates the use of the grooved Wright hook, which is drawn beneath the medial rectus muscle. The hook allows for easy suturing of a security knot and locking bites on either edge of the muscle for 3-point fixation. The tendon is then cut flush to sclera, and the muscle is splayed to its full width and reinserted closer to its origin using intrascleral sutures.
