    Con Moshegov, MD, FRACO, died on Jan. 30, 2022, after contracting COVID-19. Dr. Moshegov was one of the most renowned ophthalmologists in Australia, specializing in cataract and refractive surgery. He pioneered eye laser surgery in Australia and established the George Street and Hornsby Eye Centers. He was the medical director and had expertise in anterior segment conditions, particularly cataract and eye laser surgery. He mastered many surgical innovations and helped to advance critical techniques, improving a countless number of lives throughout his career. Dr. Moshegov dedicated his life to teaching and helping others by ensuring that his skills were shared with his colleagues. He took great pride in educating future practitioners of ophthalmology.

    Dr. Moshegov was a member of many professional societies, both domestically and internationally, including the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the European Society of Cataract & Refractive Surgeons, and the Royal Australia and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists, where he later became chairman. Dr. Moshegov qualified in medicine at the University of Sydney in 1986, which he followed by undertaking a two-year fellowship at a leading hospital in the United Kingdom. Dr. Moshegov was an experienced practitioner and performed well over 40,000 separate procedures. After his return to Australia, Dr. Moshegov worked as a registrar at the Sydney Eye Hospital before working as a visiting medical officer at Concord Hospital. He later became head of the department of ophthalmology at Concord Hospital before moving into private practice. Dr. Moshegov was a great man and his life's work will never be forgotten.
