    Jenny Benjamin is a museum professional with 25 years of experience in medical associations, history museums and art galleries. Ms. Benjamin joined the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2001. She is currently the Director of the Truhlsen – Marmor Museum of the Eye. She also holds the title of The Stanley M. Truhlsen, MD, Director of Ophthalmic Heritage. In her role, Ms. Benjamin is responsible for the museum’s exhibits and oversees a collection of 38,000 artifacts, rare books and archives.  

    Ms. Benjamin received her BA at the University of California, Davis, in early modern history and studio art. She then attended The George Washington University where she continued her studies in history and earned her master’s in Museum Studies with an emphasis on museum management and collections care. 

    Ms. Benjamin is an active member of the Ocular Heritage Society and the Cogan Ophthalmic History Society. In the past she has also dedicated time to the Council of Medical Specialty Societies (CMSS), serving as Chair of the Archivists/Historians Component Group, to the American Alliance of Museums (AAM), serving as Chair of the Small Museums Committee, and as member of the Professional Network Council.
