MIPS Tips: MIPS Reporting for Nonparticipating Physicians
MIPS payment adjustments are not applied to nonassigned claims (PDF) submitted by non-participating physicians or Medicare Part B drugs. Assigned claims are subject to the MIPS payment adjustment.
Even if you are a nonparticipating physician who currently submits mostly nonassigned claims, and you expect that will still be the case in 2022, you should still consider doing enough MIPS this year to avoid the -9% MIPS penalty on any assigned claims in 2022. Roadmaps are available for both small and large practices.
