How do we bill for atropine therapy?

    Answer:
Atropine therapy can be factored in the medical decision-making (MDM) for appropriate level of E/M exam. Atropine is a prescribed medication and falls under the moderate level risk. Selecting overall MDM is dependent on the level of components in the other categories, two of three components (problems, data and risk) must have the same level of complexity. The diagnosis of myopia, however, may be denied as not covered by commercial and/or Medicaid plans.
