Dec. 31 Deadline to Choose to Change Medicare Status
Physicians who want to change their participation status with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services for calendar year 2017 have until Dec. 31, 2016 to do so. If you do nothing, CMS will automatically roll your current status over to 2017.
To change your status, submit your agreement to your Medicare administrative contractor using the CMS-460 form. Physicians can become either participating with Medicare, or non-participating. Learn more about Medicare participation options.
