Do all commercial plans still recognize the consult codes?
Question: As a pediatric ophthalmologist, is it true that all commercial plans still recognize the consult codes?
Answer: No, that is not the case. Many have chosen to follow Medicare Part B and eliminate the office based consultation codes. Best to check with each payer individually. Remember too that their rules can and do change frequently.
