Exam same day as laser for retinal tear
Question: A patient presented with a retinal tear. We did a laser the same day. Are we able to bill the exam?
Answer: Yes. Append modifier -57 to the appropriate level of exam since CPT code 67145 Prophylaxis of retinal detachment without drainage, one or more sessions; photocoagulation is considered a major procedure.
