Frequency for Epilation
Question: We are billing CPT code 67820 Correction of trichiasis; epilation, by forceps only every eight weeks. However, Medicare is now denying due to overutilization. Is there another code we should be using?
Answer: Medicare indicates that it takes lashes approximately six to eight weeks to regrow. Best practice is to obtain and append modifier -GA to 67820. This notifies the patient and the payer that the patient may be responsible for payment.
