IOL Calculation in Operating Room
Question: Our surgeon is performing cataract surgery on a child. The A-scan will be performed while in the operating room. Is this still billable?
Answer: The IOL calculation is billable when performed in a facility. The surgeon should submit either CPT code 92136 or 76519 with modifier -26. The facility will submit with modifier -TC. The allowable may not be the same when performed in a location other than the office setting.
