Keratoplasty Codes Impacted by Natural Lens
Question: When billing a keratoplasty for patients requiring a corneal transplant, does it matter if the patient is phakic or pseudophakic?
Answer: Yes. You have several options, depending on whether the patient still has his or her natural lens. The applicable endothelial and lamellar keratoplasty procedures:
- 65730 means the eye still has a natural lens.
- 65750 means the eye has no lens.
- 65755 means eye has an intraocular lens.
