  • No New Bundling Edits for CCI in October

Beginning Oct. 1, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will implement its current Correct Coding Initiative Edits (CCI), Version 25.3. None of the edits impact ophthalmology services.

Medically Unlikely Edits (MUEs), which tell you how many times a service can be performed in one session, also has no changes.

When you are performing more than one service in a session, always confirm there is no bundling edit in place. Check every code combination, as it is easy to miss an edit, which may result in a payment delay.

“Indicator 1” means that there are times when it is appropriate to unbundle.
“Indicator 0” means these two codes can never be unbundled.
