What is the age limit for billing 66982 for pediatric patients?

    Answer:
American Academy of Pediatrics has published a policy that states after they turn 21 children are no longer pediatric patients. More than the age of the patient would be the description of the pediatric cataract surgery in the procedure note. The reason it is complex is because of the additional procedures that are required for these cases.
Pediatric cataract surgery may be more difficult intraoperatively because of an anterior capsule which is more difficult to tear, cortex which is more difficult to remove and the need for a primary posterior capsulotomy or capsulorrhexis. Furthermore, there is additional post-operative work associated with pediatric cataract surgery.
