Place of Service for Inpatient Status
Question: We received a denial of our comprehensive Eye visit code due to place of service and determined that the patient’s status was inpatient rehabilitation. Should we submit a corrected claim with POS 61?
Answer: Yes. Following the same principles for billing when the patient has inpatient status, it’s best to use POS 61. You may consider using the exam code from that family, as the Eye visit code likely does not have an allowable for that location.
