Standing Orders Billed to Non-Medicare Payers
Question: Does the insurance rule that physicians must examine the patient and then order any necessary tests apply to Medicare only or all payers?
Answer: All payers view standing orders or screening tests as noncovered. Plus, it is confusing to the patient why they are undergoing tests without having been examined first.
