Usage of Modifier -58
Question: How do I determine if a procedure requires modifier -58 pertaining to lesser to greater?
Answer: If a subsequent surgery, performed within the global period of the original surgery, is more complicated, then you should append modifier -58 to the second procedure, in addition to the eye modifier. As payment is the full allowable amount, a new global period begins.
