Bixler first discusses complications of cataract surgery, including detachment of Descemet membrane, toxic anterior segment syndrome (TASS), retrobulbar hemorrhage, suprachoroidal hemorrhage, and surgical trauma (hyphema, microscope-induced light toxicity, and thermal injury or phaco burns). She then discusses elevated IOP, signs of posterior capsule rupture, management of intraoperative vitreous loss, management of dropped nucleus, management of iris prolapse, and management of a small pupil.
