The Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP) exam happens March 17-20. The Academy has just the tools to take the stress out of studying. These resources will not only help with your OKAP scores, but with your ophthalmic fund of knowledge.
These study presentations were by far the most-viewed pages on the Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE®) Network last year, and for good reason. These high-yield, fun, question & answer presentations are a “must-do” for all residents. Check back frequently to see additional content; Steven B. Flynn, MD, PhD, is constantly adding presentations on additional topics. “I wish I had found them earlier in my training!" says Nicholas Apostolopoulos, a resident at Yale University.
Answering questions is an important method of studying. It helps you understand how to apply and identify gaps in your knowledge. There are over 4,100 questions in the program.
In 2021, a new Spaced Repetition mode was developed to enhance your knowledge retention and maximize study time.
A member of the Academy’s Resident Self-Assessment Committee recently made a short video about how to use it. We also had a webinar last June with more details about mastering ophthalmic knowledge with self-assessment tools. The BCSC Self-Assessment Program is a paid product, although all residents who took the 2021 OKAP received a 12-month subscription free of charge.
Launched in 2021, the Resident Knowledge Exchange provides residents with study materials and learning tools as they advance through their ophthalmic residency training. Residents and faculty can use this site to view and share study materials for residents and engage in discussions with their peers about resident education. Pay it forward: Contribute your own mnemonics, memory “palaces” and memory tools you have developed.
Videos from MOC Exam Review Course
Videos were added to the Residents section of the ONE Network from the Core and Comprehensive sections of the last Maintenance of Certification (MOC) Exam Review Course. The videos range from just five to 30 minutes.
If you still need more help, the Academy has other resources to get you ready for OKAP. Good luck!
