Nearly 200 young ophthalmologists attended the Global YO Reception at AAO 2020 Virtual, hosted by the Academy’s Young Ophthalmologist Committee. Members from the committee and subcommittees such as YO Committee Chair Janice C. Law, MD; Evan Silverstein, MD; and Andrea Tooley, MD were the official evening hosts.
The master of ceremonies and virtual DJ, Greg Gioia spun top 40, including some eye-related songs and played song requests. Prizes were given out for best dressed and best vibe, plus all enjoyed a scavenger hunt and drink demos by senior leaders in ophthalmology. The event was supported in part by the Ophthalmic Mutual Insurance Co. (OMIC), which has been a longtime supporter of Academy YOs.
Winners were also chosen for the YO Dance Off and social media challenge.
