In this presentation, Dr. Jost B. Jonas covers the clinical assessment of the optic nerve head (ONH), including the following:
- size and shape of the neuroretinal rim
- optic cup
- parapapillary alpha, beta, gamma, and delta zones
- peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer thickness
- retinal vessel diameters and disc hemorrhages
- histologic ONH anatomy as basis for clinical-histological correlations
- ophthalmodynamometric examinations of the central retinal artery and vein
Recent advancements in the assessment of highly myopic ONH in eyes with glaucoma are also presented.
