Full Extraocular Maneuvers for Scleral Fixation of IOLs

In this video, Dr. Shamil Louaya demonstrates his technique for sutureless scleral fixation of an IOL, in which all procedures are performed outside the eye using an intravenous catheter. Polypropylene wires are attached to the haptics of the IOL and passed through the catheter, and the IOL is inserted into the eye through a small incision. The method ensures stable fixation without tilting, respects endothelial cell density, and is suitable for various iris conditions. It also minimizes the risk of haptic laceration, simplifies IOL insertion, and buries the flanges in the sclera for fixation.
