Will my IOL aggravate my vertigo?
NOV 14, 2023
Question:
I have severe vertigo and vestibular disorder and will need cataract surgery in the future. With the knowledge that only a small change to my eyeglass prescription worsens my vertigo, should I expect the IOL to do the same?
Answer:
I think cataract surgery should not affect your vertigo. I would be very careful to try to get the best uncorrected vision as possible with your intraocular lens (IOL) after surgery so you can avoid using glasses for distance vision. A detailed discussion with your surgeon should clarify expectations about your visual goals.
