    C. Stephen and Frances Foster

AS LONGTIME SCHOLARS and teachers of ocular immunology and uveitis, Frances and I have felt indebted to the Academy for the forum and support for our efforts in education. We felt it was important to give back by establishing a new educational resource in this relatively underappreciated area. We’re excited that the C. Stephen and Frances Foster Lecture in Uveitis and Immunology will give uveitis and corneal subspecialists and comprehensive ophthalmologists the information they need to better serve patients affected by ocular inflammatory conditions.

The annual lecture, debuting at AAO 2016 in Chicago, will also provide a platform to discuss new therapies, laboratory tests, imaging techniques, pre- and postoperative considerations, local and systemic treatments, management of infectious and noninfectious forms of uveitis and more.

Frances and I very much look forward to the inaugural Foster Lecture, “Immunosuppression for the Uveitides: Current Status and Future Directions,” to be presented by Douglas A. Jabs, MD, MBA, professor of ophthalmology at Mount Sinai’s Icahn School of Medicine.

We encourage all ophthalmologists to support their particular area of interest by giving to the Foundation. I can think of no better way to ensure that our future patients receive the latest techniques and technologies for the highest quality of care.
