Dr. Yuriy Kondratenko performs a remarkable capsular bag transplantation prior to cataract surgery in a patient without a bag. After harvesting a capsular bag from a donor eye, he introduces it into the anterior chamber using a pull-through technique, he then expands the bag into the posterior chamber and sutures it to the sclera using a capsular fixation device. He then implants an IOL into the patient's new capsular bag. Dr. Kondratenko reports promising early postop results but notes many questions about long-term outcomes.
