    Vanishing CTR

    By James Davison, MD
Video Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
    Cataract/Anterior Segment

Dr. James Davison presents an unusual case of a vanishing capsular tension ring (CTR) that underscores the benefit of videotaping surgery. He inserts a zonular CTR in a patient with pseudoexfoliation and loose zonules. But at the end of surgery, he can’t find the CTR. Viewing the video in slow motion, he can see that it was aspirated in the phaco tip. The CTR had broken into fragments and was lying with the capsule and the nuclear fragments within the Viscoat.
