Eye banks have been recovering donor tissue from pseudophakic donors in recent years because of the current shortage of donor tissues for use in optical indications including Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK). The rate of donor graft preparation failure with pseudophakic donors is very high. This video will demonstrate the techniques of DM-graft preparation for DMEK from pseudophakic donors with a very high yield rate. It will show the graft preparation from different types of pseudophakia (e.g., from previous phacoemulsification surgery, from conventional extracapsular cataract extraction, and also from manual small-incision cataract surgery). The video will also share the basic principles of donor preparation. At the end, it will show many examples, with outcomes analysis for the past 3 years.
