Novel synthetic corneal endothelial substitutes improve vision, reduce chronic corneal edema due to endothelial dysfunction, are not associated with toxicities, and could be an alternative to endothelial keratoplasties, reducing the burden of eye banks and transforming all anterior segment surgeons into corneal surgeons by transforming "transplant science" to "implant science."
