Scleral Window for Type III Uveal Effusion Syndrome

    Retina/Vitreous

Drs. Libby Wei and Kenneth Taubenslag demonstrate the scleral window technique for managing type III uveal effusion syndrome in a 60-year-old patient who initially presented with acute angle closure, inferior retinal detachment, and choroidal detachment but who had failed to respond to steroid treatment prescribed for suspected posterior scleritis. After the creation of a scleral window in each quadrant, a Kelly glaucoma punch was used to make several small sclerotomies. The patient experienced slow but complete resolution of serous and choroidal detachment after surgery with an excellent visual outcome.
