How soon after cataract surgery can I wear cosmetic soft contact lenses?

Answer:
Since this is purely elective I would wait three months. It would be preferable not to insert a potential source of infection unless absolutely necessary. However, if this is an absolutely necessary thing to do such as requiring them for a specific work situation such as an actor then I think four weeks or sooner is a reasonable time to wait. The concern is that the wound created during the cataract surgery may allow bacteria to enter the eye and inserting a contact lens can be a source of that bacteria.
