Can bright lights fix my dilated eye?
JUN 29, 2020
Question:
Would going out on bright days help trigger healing from damage caused by injury to the iris sphincter (resulting in dilated eye)?
Answer:
The iris sphincter is a type of muscle that does not respond to strengthening in the same way as a skeletal muscle such as a bicep. So bright light is unlikely to strengthen the muscle. You might ask your ophthalmologist to prescribe a miotic (makes pupil smaller) such as Pilocarpine drops if the dilated pupil (mydriasis) is annoying.
