Do my eyes dilate enough?
JUL 03, 2016
Question:
Both of my pupils are equal and reactive. Both constrict (close, become smaller) normally to light, but they are not dilating (widening) past a 3 or 4 in the dark. I have had my eyes checked by three ophthalmologists and all said my eyes seem and look healthy. No problems with the eyes could be found. But they cannot explain why they do not dilate further. They do dilate with the dilation drops. Any guesses?
Answer:
This dilation is within a normal range. Different people can dilate in dim light to a different extent. In addition, your pupils will not dilate as widely in the dark as you grow older.
