In this interview from ARVO 2016, Dr. Nadia K. Waheed discusses the integration of OCT Angiography in clinical practice. The technology has allowed for improved diagnosis and monitoring of CNV and other vascular diseases, as well as advanced imaging of the retinal layers. New uses of OCT-A may provide quantitative data on areas of perfusion and non-perfusion, vascular density, and flow speeds. Dr. Waheed also highlights swept-source OCT-A as an exciting avenue for looking at deep retinal features not previously viewable in living humans, such as the choriocapillaris.

Dr. Waheed is the Director of the Boston Image Reading Center and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
