    In this interview from AAO 2016, Dr. Warren Hill discusses the Hill-RBF Calculator, a new method for IOL power calculation based on artificial intelligence and pattern recognition. Hill led a team of surgeons and engineers at the company MathWorks to develop an algorithm that is independent of vergence formulas or knowledge of effective lens position. The improvement is significant. Dr. Hill says that 80% to 90% of patients are within 0.5 D of intended outcome. The algorithm can be accessed online free-of-charge.
