  • Share EHR Feedback at Nov. 12 User-Group Sessions

The Academy and AAOE are collaborating on a series of five vendor-specific electronic health record sessions, Nov. 12, during AAO 2017 in New Orleans.

    Sunday, Nov. 12, 7:30-10:30 a.m.

    • Epic - Room 293
    • Eye Care Leaders - Room 294
    • NextGen - Room 295
    • EyeMD - Room 296
    • Compulink - Room 297

The user-group sessions will enable in-depth discussion and feedback for users of five EHR systems: Epic, Eye Care Leaders, NextGen, EyeMD and Compulink. The sessions run concurrently on Nov. 12 from 7:30-10:30 a.m.

Each three-hour session will include three elements:

    • User presentations: Physicians and administrators showing “best practices” within their EHR system and unique solutions they’ve developed to common problems encountered with the system.
    • Vendor product updates: EHR developers sharing plans for coming releases of their EHR system.
    • Desired features discussion: A chance for physicians and administrators to share their “wish list” of new features with EHR vendors for discussion.

Based on past experience with similar sessions, these sessions take a user-centric approach. Sessions are meant to provide a forum for providers and administrators to discuss EHR-related difficulties with fellow users and vendor representatives. The goal is to collectively identify solutions to help participants improve the use of their EHR system.

The event is co-sponsored by the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives EHR Committee and the American Academy Ophthalmology Medical Information Technology Committee
