  • Combined Retinopathy ICD-10 Not Covered for Treatment

We have a patient with proliferative diabetic retinopathy (PDR) and traction detachment of retina (TRD). There is a single ICD-10 code that can be used (E10.35-). However, that diagnosis code is not approved for intravitreal anti-VEGF to treat PDR. What is the best ICD-10 code to use?

    Answer:
If performing injections for PDR link only the PDR diagnosis indicating with or without edema. CPT family E10.35-, PDR with TRD combined code, must be used when appropriate, for example, for the repair of the retinal detachment.
