Question: I’m performing an Ahmed tube implantation with patch graft within the global period of a failed transscleral cyclophotocoagulation. What CPT code and modifier is appropriate?
Answer: Submit CPT code 66180 Aqueous shunt to extraocular equatorial plate reservoir; external approach; with graft. If you performed the TCP, append modifier -78 and the eye modifier. If performed outside of the practice append the eye modifier only.
