    Question: When the surgeon resects the lateral rectus muscles of both eyes how should the claim be submitted?

    Answer: CPT code 67311 Strabismus surgery, recession or resection procedure; 1 horizontal muscle, appended with modifier-50 on a single line, or a two line item appended with modifiers –RT and –LT. The number of units depends upon the payer as well. Payment should be 150 percent of the allowable.
