Residual esotropia
Question: The patient has residual esotropia. The surgeon performs a re-recession of previously operated right medial rectus muscle and resection of the right lateral rectus muscle. How do we correctly code?
Answer: Submit both CPT codes 67312 Strabismus surgery, recession or resection procedure; two horizontal muscles and +67332 Strabismus surgery on patient with scarring of extraocular muscles. Payment should be 100 percent of the allowable for both the primary procedure and the add-on code.
