bullet Role for Young Ophthalmologists at the Academy

YO = Young ophthalmologists in training + those in their first five years in practice

The American Academy of Ophthalmology has a long-term strategy to engage young ophthalmologists and guide them through the many stages of professional life. The Academy offers educational programs, career services and professional development services catered to each level of training, from residency through practice and academia.

The core purpose of the Young Ophthalmologist Committee is to address the educational needs of younger or new to practice ophthalmologists, communicating their concerns to the Academy leadership, and supporting their membership and involvement in Academy activities. The major focus of these efforts is directed toward residency, fellowship, and the first five years of practice.
