  • Dr. Zanke received an MD degree from the University of Manitoba and a PhD from the University of Toronto. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada with speciality certification in internal medicine and medical oncology.

    Dr. Zanke works in the Division of Epidemiology at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute and in clinical hematology at The Ottawa Hospital. He is the principal investigator of the ARCTIC research consortium, a multi-institutional effort to identify genetic and epigenetic risk predictors of colorectal cancer. ARCTIC has received continuous funding from Genome Canada, the Canadian Cancer Society and the Province of Ontario Global Leadership in Life Sciences granting program.

    Dr. Zanke founded ArcticDx, Inc., in 2005 as a vehicle to translate research discoveries into clinical benefits for patients. ArcticDx is developing both a predictor of colorectal cancer risk and a tool for identifying patients who will develop wet age-related macular degeneration.
