Dr. Van Stavern received his medical degree from Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine, Hershey, PA. He finished two years of an Ophthalmology residency, then completed a three-year Neurology residency, at University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill. He then completed his Neuro-Ophthalmology Fellowship at Emory University Hospitals, Atlanta GA. He is Board Certified in Neurology. Dr. Van Stavern is an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology, Neurology, and Neurosurgery at Wayne State University and the Director of the Neuro-ophthalmology Service at Kresge Eye Institute.
