    Ocular Pathology/Oncology

Inner ischemic retinal atrophy. The photoreceptor nuclei (outer nuclear layer, ONL) and the outer portion of the inner nuclear layer (INL) are identifiable. The inner portion of the inner nuclear layer is absent. There are no ganglion cells, and the NFL is absent (H&E stain). This pattern of ischemia corresponds to the supply of the retinal arteriolar circulation and may be observed after healing from arterial and venular occlusions.
