How can you improve depth perception with one eye?

Question:
I wanted to know how to enhance depth perception in a 6-month-old who had an eye removed after a malignancy. Are there toys or games and/or specialists who can help?
Answer:
This is an excellent question. Depth perception requires two seeing eyes. Your child will intuitively learn to navigate the world successfully with one seeing eye. Most importantly the child should wear safety lenses as he/she grows to protect the only seeing eye.
As the child develops, note if they have any motor skill issues which might benefit from physical therapy. Your child’s ophthalmologist is the best source for valuable support and guidance so be sure to attend all regular follow-up appointments.
