Virtual Meeting Access for Academy Members

The Academy is committed to delivering the critical scientific and clinical information that you expect from the most important ophthalmology meeting of the year. In the past, members have been able to attend the in-person annual meeting event for free, with an option to purchase access to additional in-depth content such as Subspecialty Day meetings, instruction courses and skills transfer labs. In the virtual meeting platform, however, it is not possible to hide or limit content in any way. We understand that the virtual meeting represents a major shift in how the Academy delivers educational content, and how Academy members can access it. In consultation with our physician leadership, the Academy has chosen to open all areas of the meeting to members for one low price of $425. Academy Members in Training only pay $150. You will have access to double the amount of educational content and CME credits than would typically be available during our in-person annual meeting. Plus, you can revisit this content on the virtual meeting platform for up to 3 months after the meeting concludes. All of this, for less than the price of a single Subspecialty Day meeting registration.

    Coding Camp

Each year the American Academy of Ophthalmology and AAOE brings you information about the critical changes in ophthalmic coding during Coding Camp. This year, join the Academy’s senior coding experts for the most important updates for 2021 at Coding Camp.

This essential course will take place the weekend after AAO 2020 Virtual on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Learn more about Coding Camp Plus (Virtual).

    Cancellation of the Live Meeting

In light of epidemiological projections, government regulations and public health mandates to prevent the spread of disease — including social distancing, limited crowd sizes and face coverings — the Academy was forced to cancel its in-person annual meeting this year.

This was not a choice, an in-person event is impossible.

    Timing of Cancellation

Cancelling the live event four months in advance of the meeting dates allows the Academy time to focus on planning an exceptional virtual experience.

Previous Registration for AAO 2020 in Las Vegas

If you had already registered for the live meeting in Las Vegas, your registration was automatically cancelled. If you paid registration and/or ticket fees, they were refunded in full. The cancellation and refund process was completed by Friday, Aug. 7.
