    Joanne Mansour, OCSR, Chair

    Practice Manager —The Virginia Retina Center
    Joanne began her career in ophthalmology in 1988 in Toronto, Canada. She is the executive director of a small non-profit. Joanne has managed the Virginia Retina Center, since 2004. Under her management, the Virginia Retina Center has grown to three locations and four physicians.

    Mary Becka, Past Chair

    Practice Administrator — Fairview Eye Center
    Mary has over 25 years years of experience in health care administration.  She received her bachelor of science in gerontology from Bowling Green State University. Since 2009, she has managed the Fairview Eye Center near Cleveland, Ohio, which includes management of eight MDs, four ODs, 70 staff members, five offices and four optical shops. Mary is the past chair of the editorial committee and past member of the ehr committee.

    Kristin Carter, MD

    Managing Partner — Clarity Eye Care & Surgery
    Dr. Kristin Carter has been in private practice for nearly 20 years and founded Clarity Eye Care & Surgery, specializing in cataract surgery, as well as comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Carter serves on the Academy's Health Policy Committee and represents ophthalmology for Arizona on the Carrier Advisory Committee. Dr. Carter is a former president and a current board member of the Arizona Ophthalmological Society. She has been involved in ophthalmic education, serving on several publications’ editorial boards, developing content for the Ophthalmic News and Education (ONE®) Network and teaching courses on cataract surgery, coding and new technology in the eye operating room.

    Sean D Goodale, CPA, MBA

    CEO — Retina Associates, P.A.
    Sean is the CEO of Retina Associates in Kansas City and has over 29 years’ experience in health care administration and financial management. He is the chief executive officer of Retina Associates, P.A., the largest retina-only practice in the greater Kansas City area, with eight retina surgeons and 13 locations. He has also worked as the CFO and CIO of a large multi-specialty physician practice management organization. In addition, he serves or has served on national and regional advisory committees in health care and business, including local and national committees of the MGMA and HFMA.

    Pamela A. Hagen, LPN, COA

    Practice Manager — Tower Clock Eye Center
    Pam has been active in ophthalmology for over 35 years and has extensive experience in many managerial and administrative roles since she began her career as an ophthalmic assistant in 1984. In her 8+ years at Tower Clock Eye Center, she has guided the clinic to become an established mainstay in eye care throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She has been integral in the growth of a private, independent ophthalmology clinic that began with a single surgeon and has expanded to include four ophthalmologists and three optometrists. She was vital to the development and building of an ASC, and has steered the focus of the practice to provide patients the latest proven technology while providing unsurpassed patient care.

    Ann M. Hulett, CMPE

    CEO — Eyehealth Northwest, PC
    Ann M. Hulett is the CEO of EyeHealth Northwest in Portland, Ore., comprised of 26 ophthalmologists, 10 ODs, two ambulatory surgery centers (ASCs) and more than 350 employees. She has 25 years of experience as a medical practice administrator, 14 in ophthalmology. She worked as the administrator at Rocky Mountain Eye Center in Pueblo, Colo., during which she served five years on the AAOE Board of Directors and received the Academy's Secretariat Award. She has also worked as CFO and CEO of a large cardiology practice in New Mexico. She started her career as a CPA and enjoys working in areas of finance as well as group governance and physician communications.

    Anthony P. Johnson, MD, FACS

    Immediate Past President, Immediate Past Managing Partner — Jervey Eye Group PA
    Dr. Anthony Johnson is the immediate past president and immediate past managing partner of Jervey Eye Group in Greenville, S.C., roles he has served in for more than two decades. A member of the AAOE Board of Directors, Dr. Johnson has been a full-time pediatric ophthalmologist for 33 years. Jervey Eye Group PA has four locations, a full digital optical surfacing lab and a three-OR ambulatory surgery center. Seventeen doctors cover comprehensive eye care and most subspecialties. Dr. Johnson served as Jervey Eye Group’s interim administrator until June 2018. He is still supervises ASC billing, including anesthesia services.

    Practice Administrator — Bucks-Mont Eye Associates
    Sue began her career with a small optometry practice in Pennsylvania in 1990. She briefly worked at a retina practice in Pennsylvania before she moved to Seattle and became the billing manager of a medium-sized retina practice for several years. She then became the practice administrator of a smaller retina practice. In 2010, she moved back to the Pennsylvania to work as practice administrator for Bucks-Mont Eye Associates, which has nine providers. In addition to the AAOE board, Sue also serves on AAOE's EHR, content and leadership development committees. Sue received an Academy Secretariat Award in 2016 for her contributions to AAOE.

    Arvind Saini, MD, MBA

    Dr. Arvind Saini is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and cornea specialist in San Diego County. He owns and manages his practice and has worked as an administrator in both an IPA and multi-specialty group. He is an alumni of the Wharton School of Business Healthcare MBA program, is a past participant in the AAOs leadership development program, and is currently on the AAO Young Ophthalmologist Committee.

    Senior Secretary for Ophthalmic Practice — American Academy of Ophthalmology
    Dr. Robert Wiggins serves on the Academy Board of Trustees as the Senior Secretary for Ophthalmic Practice and is a member of the executive committee. He serves on the AAOE Board of Directors and AAOE Program Committee. He is a past member of the AAOE EHR Committee and Academy POACE Committee and has served on several Academy task forces. He has received the Academy's Achievement and Secretariat Awards for Education and Practice Management.

    Since 1991, Dr. Wiggins has worked at Asheville Eye Associates in North Carolina, where he practices pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus and neuro-ophthalmology. He has served as the managing partner since 2000.
