    Joanne Mansour, OCSR, Chair

    Practice Manager —The Virginia Retina Center
    Joanne began her career in ophthalmology in 1988 in Toronto, Canada. She is the executive director of a small non-profit. Joanne has managed the Virginia Retina Center, since 2004. Under her management, the Virginia Retina Center has grown to three locations and four physicians.

    Mary Becka, Past Chair

    Practice Administrator — Fairview Eye Center
    Mary has over 25 years years of experience in health care administration.  She received her bachelor of science in gerontology from Bowling Green State University. Since 2009, she has managed the Fairview Eye Center near Cleveland, Ohio, which includes management of eight MDs, four ODs, 70 staff members, five offices and four optical shops. Mary is the past chair of the editorial committee and past member of the ehr committee.

    Stephanie Collins Mangham, MBA COA OCSR

    Chief Executive Officer — Austin Retina Associates
    Stephanie Collins is the Chief Executive Officer for Austin Retina Associates in Austin, Texas. Ms. Collins recently completed her MBA in Healthcare Administration from the University of Texas at Tyler and celebrated her 19th year with the practice. Her tenure with Austin Retina has provided her the opportunity to work in almost every job within the organization, allowing her a real insight into the needs of the patients and employees she encounters every day. Her stated focus for the group is innovation, increased efficiency, and to provide unparalleled patient and employee satisfaction.

    Heather H. Dunn, COA, OCS

    Manager — Family Eye Care of the Carolinas
    Heather Dunn has extensive experience in ophthalmic practice management. Before assuming management of her current practice in 2006, she held positions as an ophthalmic assistant, optical technician, and insurance biller. Most recently, Ms. Dunn was selected to participate as an inaugural participant in the Ophthalmic Practice Administrators Leadership Program (OPAL), class of 2019. Under direction of the AAPOS Socioeconomic Committee, she has helped initiate a practice manager program for pediatric ophthalmology. In addition, she has served on the AAOE Program Committee as well as a Small Practice Advisory Panel. She remains a Certified Ophthalmic Assistant and is an ophthalmic coding specialist and volunteer with the AAOE coding team.

    Ravi D. Goel, MD — Senior Secretary for Ophthalmic Practice, American Academy of Ophthalmology

    Regional Eye Associates & Wills Eye Hospital
    Dr. Goel is in private practice in Cherry Hill, NJ, and a clinical instructor at the Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia. He is a former trustee of the Medical Society of New Jersey, Colony Foundation, and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School Alumni Association. He is a past chair of the American Medical Association—Young Physicians Section. He is a recipient of the AMA Foundation Excellence in Medicine Leadership Award, the American Academy of Ophthalmology Achievement Award, and Secretariat Award. He is a past president of the New Jersey Academy of Ophthalmology. In 2012, he was appointed to the New Jersey Governors School Board of Overseers. He is a director of the American Academy.

    Pamela A. Hagen, LPN, COA

    Practice Manager — Tower Clock Eye Center
    Pam has been active in ophthalmology for over 35 years and has extensive experience in many managerial and administrative roles since she began her career as an ophthalmic assistant in 1984. In her 8+ years at Tower Clock Eye Center, she has guided the clinic to become an established mainstay in eye care throughout Northeast Wisconsin and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. She has been integral in the growth of a private, independent ophthalmology clinic that began with a single surgeon and has expanded to include four ophthalmologists and three optometrists. She was vital to the development and building of an ASC, and has steered the focus of the practice to provide patients the latest proven technology while providing unsurpassed patient care.

    Sondra Hoffman, COE, CPE, CMPE, HRM 

    Chief Executive Officer — Florida Eye Clinic
    Sondra Hoffman has over 30 years’ experience in ophthalmic healthcare administration. Originally from South Florida, she has spent the past eight years serving as the Chief Executive Officer at Florida Eye Clinic; a large multi-specialty MD/OD integrated practice in Central Florida with 27 providers, 12 locations and an ASC. She is also the Administrator of the ASC and a Healthcare Risk Manager. Her passion lies in physician, employee and patient engagement creating a workplace that fosters efficiency, patient, physician and employee satisfaction, building teams to provide excellence in eye care and exceptional patient experience. She also serves as a Board Member for the Central Florida Lighthouse for The Blind, and has served in a number of capacities with ASOA over the past 25 years.

    Anthony P. Johnson, MD, FACS

    Past President, Past Managing Partner — Jervey Eye Group PA
    Dr. Anthony Johnson is the past president and past managing partner of Jervey Eye Group in Greenville, S.C., roles he served from 1994 through 2018. A member of the AAOE Board of Directors, Dr. Johnson has been a full-time pediatric ophthalmologist for 34 years. In this role, he has overseen practice billing and ASC billing, including anesthesia services. He has just relocated to bring pediatric ophthalmology to Tifton, GA in rural South Georgia.

    Marilyn Ponder, DBA, MM, SHRM-CP, COE

    Practice Administrator — Clayton Eye Center 
    Dr. Marilyn Ponder serves as the Practice Administrator at Clayton Eye Center, a multi-specialty ophthalmology practice, (four locations and one ASC), located just outside of Atlanta, Georgia. Dr. Ponder has extensive management experience, holding a Masters in Management (MM) and a Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) with a concentration in Management. She recently authored a dissertation titled, "The Relationship Between Emotional Intelligence and Leadership Style Among Ophthalmic Practice Administrators." She has more than 20 years of ophthalmology experience that began while serving in the US Army, where she was uniquely trained as an eye specialist. After departing Army, she moved to private practice, serving in several ophthalmic capacities ranging from technician to clinic manager. Her stated focus is transforming teams through emotionally intelligent leadership.

    Arvind Saini, MD, MBA

    Managing Partner  Integrity Eye
    Dr. Arvind Saini is a comprehensive ophthalmologist and cornea specialist in San Diego County. He owns and manages his practice and has worked as an administrator in both an IPA and multi-specialty group. He is an alumni of the Wharton School of Business Healthcare MBA program, is a past participant in the AAOs leadership development program, and is currently on the AAO Young Ophthalmologist Committee.
