Program Overview
Enhance your knowledge of coding and documentation with intensive sessions presented by the American Academy of Ophthalmic Executives® (AAOE®). These sessions are the best way to ensure proper reimbursement and avoid costly audits.
Important Information
- Registration is required to attend coding sessions.
- If you will only attend one or both of these sessions, you don’t need to register for the general AAO 2021 annual meeting.
- Due to limited capacity, these coding sessions may sell out. Any remaining tickets will be sold onsite on a first-come basis.
- Registration fee includes electronic workbook and either breakfast or an afternoon snack.

Each coding session requires a separate ticket ($) and is eligible for CME, AAPC and/or IJCAHPO credit (C).

Fundamentals of Ophthalmic Coding | 21CODE1 ($/C)
Level: Beginner — Intermediate
This interactive 3-hour course has been created for new coders, those without formal training, or even experienced coders who want to confirm their knowledge is up–to–date. This interactive 3-hour course —among our most popular and frequently sold out — takes the guesswork out of shifting payer requirements and provides solutions for overcoming your most persistent coding challenges. At the end of this fun and educational course, attendees will be able to:
- Understand the vital role each team member plays in compliant documentation.
- Identify and rectify costly coding errors through the coding competency challenge.
- Adopt correct coding principles from exam through surgery.
- Recognize the process of CPT code development.
- Apply new coding requirements into the practice prior to Jan. 1, 2022.
